Hello Everyone.
There are still two more weeks to sign up for this swap, however, due to
this type of swap - it is important to fill slots early.
* What makes this fly swap different? Simple - instead of sending a
recipe, I would like each of you to send me the story behind the fly - at
least 4 paragraphs - limited to 3 pages... Send this to me offline and I
will recreate these stories on fly-fishing stationary attached to each fly
when I send them back out to the participants (and I will send you back your
story as well). I will do this at no additional cost.
When you get the flies, you will also get some nice reading material as
well. Since some stories are very special, I do not think I will post this
on the web for all to see - rather it should be shared with only the
participants. Since no recipes will be given - your "secret weapon" flies
will be safe except for the participant who can reverse engineer it.
Here is who is signed up already:
1) Roger Cotner - TBD
2) Jimi Gensling - TBD
3) Jim Burbank - TBD
4) Dick ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) - TBD
5) Chris Chapman - Chapman Heronfly
I am looking forward to more of you joining this swap.
Key Milestones:
Sign up by 4/15 - Min 15 / Max 24
Determine Fly Pattern by 4/15
Deadline for Flies - 5/15
Deadline for Fishing Story Text - 5/25
Complete swap and send out to all 6/1.
DETAILS:
I have decided to host my first swap. What I think is really neat is that
each of us has many wonderful memories on the water - but I am looking for
that one special moment that to each of you is just so special...and of
course there is a fly at the other end of that memory.
This swap is for the flies that created these memories. It could be an
instance - or years of constant success with an individual pattern, or an
obscure moment with a fly you doubted could have achieved such results.
I would like to limit this to 15 participants - but I could open it to 24 if
there is enough interest.
I am planning to have this swap completed by June 1st - so there is plenty
of time.

If there is no interest is a swap like this, please tell me. I am in many
other swaps and I won't be offended.
I plan to tie a Heron modification which has been the most successful fly in
my fishing lifetime (25 years) throughout NH, Maine, and California - really
the only places I have fished so far. The story I will share will be an
expedition to the Connecticut River in Pittsburg, NH and the incredible
success
this fly and I had last fall. Resulting in a 3.5lb brown - the 100th drift
over the same pool.....
Thanks.
Chris
