I use a lanyard - Orvis Water Office Lanyard - which I don't think they sell
anymore :(. It works nicely and I can quickly connect and disconnect
"condiments" based upon the type of fishing I am doing.

For example:

1) For CDC's : I have a detachable Samadou dryer and powder dessicant.
2) For Other Dries : I have regular floatant
3) For Nymphing - I have strike indicator and putty weight
4) I always have a forceps and a deliar (for that rare big one before
releasing)
5) I have a tippet holder that I adjust depending upon the type of fishing.
6) I have 3 lock and load small fly boxes that I have on the hooks.. I
releoad them as well.

It is critical not to have everything on it all at once as it can become
bulky.

Since I float tube, wade, and fish in a canoe - this is the only common
carrier that works in all the ways I need it.

A couple of intangibles are:

* I can fit a jacket over the lanyard.
* I can keep a waterproof jacket over the lanyard in case it rains...

The downfall is that since it can be quite busy, you can knock off flies
from the fly patch....So use a separate one on the shoulder of your
non-casting arm.

This is my 2 cents...

Thanks.

Chris

I have never worn a vest that was comfortable to fish in all day.
I've been fly fishing for over 50 years, and up to a couple of years ago
wore a vest. I now have a chest pack/back pack/belt pack combo that I really

like.
The trouble with a vest is you tend to carry more than you actually need to
fish with due to the abundance of pockets.
