Hello Everyone.
There is ONLY ONE MORE WEEK to sign up for this swap!!!
WE NEED AT LEAST 10 MORE PEOPLE!!!
If you are worried about text, typing, etc, you can fax hand written
stuff and I will retype.
But, what is most important is that you sign up NOW!! This will be a lot
of fun and I look forward to each participants input on how to make this
type of swap really fun - maybe a web site for participants. - If you
think you get to know participants in a regular swap - think of the
friendships you gain by this type of swap.
If we have 25 people - we will have a nice 100 page book that you can
treasure for a lifetime. If that is the case I will bind the stories into a
soft copy book.... This swap will be very exciting. I will explore
options in publishing for the group - 24 people and depending upon the
groups interest, we may come up with Volume 1 of a new ICON in fishing
material....(now I am dreaming). [But each participant would receive an
equal percentage of the proceeds...]
But we will keep it simple and if the group wants to develop something
special we can do that too.
If you are a world class fly tyer, if you are a world class fisherman, if
you have just started either and have only used a really simple yet
effective pattern, or if you are like me, enjoying the outdoors and my
favorite pastime - THIS SWAP IS FOR YOU!!!
To all who are sick of this post - just one more week then I will be done.
However for the sake of the participants who have joined, I might extend the
sign up period a week. (So two weeks of this message!!)
* What makes this fly swap different? Simple - instead of sending a
recipe, I would like each of you to send me the story behind the fly - at
least 4 paragraphs - limited to 3 pages... Send this to me offline and I
will recreate these stories on fly-fishing stationary attached to each fly
when I send them back out to the participants (and I will send you back your
story as well). I will do this at no additional cost.
When you get the flies, you will also get some nice reading material as
well. Since some stories are very special, I do not think I will post this
on the web for all to see - rather it should be shared with only the
participants.
I have already begun using Yahoo Groups to maintain email
communication with the swap members - so it will be offline as soon as we
fill it!!
Here is who is signed up already:
1) Roger Cotner - TBD
2) Jimi Gensling - TBD
3) Jim Burbank - TBD
4) Dick ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) - TBD
5) Mike Lipscomb - TBD
6) Chris Chapman - Chapman Heronfly
I am looking forward to more of you joining this swap.
Key Milestones:
Sign up by 4/15 - Min 15 / Max 24
Determine Fly Pattern by 4/15
Deadline for Flies - 5/15
Deadline for Fishing Story Text - 5/25
Complete swap and send out to all 6/1.
DETAILS:
I have decided to host my first swap. What I think is really neat is that
each of us has many wonderful memories on the water - but I am looking for
that one special moment that to each of you is just so special...and of
course there is a fly at the other end of that memory.
This swap is for the flies that created these memories. It could be an
instance - or years of constant success with an individual pattern, or an
obscure moment with a fly you doubted could have achieved such results.
I would like to limit this to 15 participants - but I could open it to 24 if
there is enough interest.
I am planning to have this swap completed by June 1st - so there is plenty
of time.

will be safe except for the participant who can reverse engineer it.
If there is no interest is a swap like this, please tell me. I am in many
other swaps and I won't be offended.
I plan to tie a Heron modification which has been the most successful fly in
my fishing lifetime (25 years) throughout NH, Maine, and California - really
the only places I have fished so far. The story I will share will be an
expedition to the Connecticut River in Pittsburg, NH and the incredible
success
this fly and I had last fall. Resulting in a 3.5lb brown - the 100th drift
over the same pool.....
Thanks.
Chris
