A couple hundred years ago a ship wrecked pet monkey washed ashore at hartlepool in england. the locals thought it was a french spy and hanged it. They are still known in the north east of England as the monkey hangers. The local council elections took place yesterday, one of the candidates was the mascot for the towns football team, who runs around on match day dressed in a monkey costume and wearing a football shirt. His election promise was "free bananas for each child". HE GOT ELECTED with a huge majority and gets a SEVENTY THOUSAND POUND SALARY ! I've laughed all day, I think shows politics in its true light.
