Try clousers tyed with awesome hair. I just got back from a little pike fishing on Lake St Clair. Very few pike but the smallies just tore up the clousers & these were in the 6" range! If one bas came lose another would grab instantly! It was hard to go 3 casts with hooking a bass! Biggest 23.5" :^)
