Great story Byard!

Got me all enthused......living on the west coast, I've never even
seen a striper or a blue but have read about them. What kind of
tackle did you use for them?

Neville...

Used my Powell 9 footer for 8 weight and a Teeny T-200 shooter. With
the extreme strength of the tidal currents it was taxed to the max.
Scott was using a 10 wt and was able to apply a tad more force. He
also did some fish searching with a popper or a white Sluggo on a
light spin rod.

The fly of the day was something that Scott ties...about 7"
long...long white saddles with some flash...white bucktail
underbelly...yellow bucktail top dressing and red bucktail
cheeks...large eyes and round epoxy head.

Didn't really spend much time changing flies as that one seemed to do
the trick. I assume it was taken for a squid. There were tons of sand
eels around but they were very small...about 2 inches. There were
some very large pods of bait around but they were moving fast and
hard to key in on.

Water temps were just over the 60 degree mark so the stripers will be
seeking cooler temps farther off shore real soon.

keep tyin'...byard
