If you're having trouble coming up with additional titles to check out,
you've probably been through this guy's stuff, but I can't recommend titles
by John Gierach highly enough. They're not novels like some of the titles
you cited, but rather short essays. Each chapter is its own complete unit.
The guy is absolutely hysterical. In my opinion, he's one of the (if not
*the*) best american authors alive. His material is so good that my
fiance, who is not interested in fly fishing, sat down with his books and
read them cover to cover. They're not so much fishing books per se as they
are books which use fishing and fishing related anecdotes to explore
different philosophies related to fishing and life. He's got just enough
of a bad attitude to make it interesting, and he's got plenty of experience
as well so his facts check out and it all comes together quite nicely.

In particular - just to get a start - I'd recommend either Trout Bum or the
anthology book (titled something like Death, Taxes and Leaky Waders
although there is a book with a somewhat similar title - make sure you look
up the anthology).

This guy's material is absolutely prime stuff. I'm by no means a regular
reader. I read mostly non-fiction books and normally consider anything of
a fiction or essay nature a waste of time since theoretically I'm learning
either nothing or simple opinions, but I can actually say I sat down and
read through all of this guy's work and I'm dying for some more.

I hope this helps!

John
