Subject: [VFB] Induced take
Hi list,
Reading all the interesting comments following my
message about graylings the other day I feel a need to discuss the theme
from another angle.
In the classic literature we can read about
different techniques to induce a take (ie La Fontaine, Leisenring). Several of
you listfellows also give examples from your own experiences. I think we are
discussing some of the essence of flyfishing. Literature and tradition give us
lots of rules about how to act when fishing, but in the end it is up to the
fisherman himself to use his instincts, knowledge, experience and feeling
to succed in the fishing. Fishing skill is the result of good knowledge
and capability to use this knowledge. The capability is often a result of
many hours, days, months and years at the water which creates an instinct for
what is right just at this moment.
When we choose our flies and fishing methods
according to our own experience even if nobody else around agrees and succeds
at it, that is pure fishing joy and happiness, isnt it?
