Try leaving some peppers in a hot pan and forget to turn the high heat off. Had some chinese neighbors when we lived in an apartment years back do that. I couldn't even smell it (I guess eating a lot of hot makes you immune) but my family was gasping for air. Some of the firemen had to leave the apartment with burning lungs after setting up their fans. They tried to get me to leave but I was not fazed. Seems the exhaust fan pipe of the chinese folks drafted down our pipe. I have since innoculated my family. <g>
