"From my observations I think most of us spend to much time worrying about our tackle and too little time learning the intimate characteristics of the fish in the streams we fish most.  Don't forget that a person who has exceptional knowledge of trout, even though his equipment may be nothing more than a cane pole and a crudely fashioned fly, can take some trout under conditions which might well tax the ingenuity of the most elaborately equipped angler whose knowledge of fish is somewhat above the ordinary."
