My 2 cents...

You couldn't teach a school or put on seminars unless you established as an
'agenda' what 'someone' (a group or individual) perceives as the minimum
standard for conduct, equipment, technique, etc. The time/distance between
standards becoming rules becoming laws is not as far as you think. Since I
am a first class 'rebel at heart', I would never teach 'standards', but
would teach those in the school to do their own thing, but also to respect
the enviornment, respect others, respect and care for the quarry and it's
habitat, and never poach. Thus, 'doing your own thing' would carry some
responsibilities, and that is a good thing.

A seminar is always in order for good manners and respect, as the lack of
these create more difficulties in our sport than the level of
sophistication
in our approach. I've seen many threads here where the parties disagree.
Cool. Where it ALWAYS falls apart is when one party treats another with
disrespect, whether it be by intention or the sometimes misunderstood
comment. The old-timers on the list just take it in stride now as a
regular
 occurance, like storms.

Also, remember that if 'someone does draw the line', it may be drawn on
the
wrong side of the one who asked for it.

Finally, start applying ANY sort of standards in FLYTYING and you'll put ME
out of business in a nanosecond!

To the list- My apologies to the list for my inactivity lately. Extreme
amount going on here, and will be that way for a little bit. But I'm
always
 lurking... 8^ )
