Gosh, let's see...I have been tying flies for about 30 years and I do a brisk business tying for a sizable group of Private Clients & afew local Shops. I still find it hard to call myself a Pro; Thought I do refer to myself as a "Professional Fly Tyer"..
Anywho, My thing that I have problems with is Tying Full Featherwing Atlantic Salmon Flies.. The Problems being mostly about dropping at least a $500 note to get the Materials to get started properly.. I can Marry feather strips together, I can tye Tags, tips,Tails, Vailings, Butts, Joints, smooth Floss Bodies, tye Hakcles, Throat Hackles...It just that I figured out exactly what i will need to really get going at them, & it came out to be over $500 to get the quality stuff to "go for it".. So I've slowly begun to buy Materials I come across for the construction of Full Featherwings... Seal Fur assortment, Goose Quills, Assorted Flosses, & Jungle Cock Neck are recent items(within the past Year) I've added to the "kitty"..
However, i do have the Big Interview at BOB MARRIOTT'S FLYFISHING STORE today at 3:00pm PST... They have a great selection of needed Materials. If I get hired on there(I've had some big league names send in letters of recommendation for me), I guess i can buy some of the more expensive materials at Employee discount. If the collective group of VFB could all keep positive mental attitudes towards me getting hired there, I'd really appreciate it...
Of course I can easily see me blowing too much money there, but i can aqquire the needed goodies & get over that last hurdle in tying...Full Featherwings!!!!!
