Jack,

The vfb IS the friendliest place I've ever been. So please understand that
the folks here are very jealous about the qualities of what makes this site
a great site. I've been on it five years now and seen a lot of
'flame-wars', and if anything raises any hackles, it will be for someone
disrespecting a vfb'er or breaking Byard's rules. As friendly as it is,
Byard has 'unsubscribed' people because they "wouldn't play nice". That's
what keeps it friendly.

It's not my job to police Byard's site, but one of his fast rules is 'no
advertising or selling' on his site without his permission. I was trying to
be polite in my approach, but I think you didn't read me clearly between the
parentheses. When you replied that you 'really don't care', I knew what
would follow. This is not the type of comment that will sit well on this
site. The site is friendly because we DO care. This is not the first time
we've been here, and it won't be the last.

So, Jack, welcome to the site. Obviously you are an expert tier, so we want
you to stay so we can learn from you. But we DO have a friendly community
here because Byard has rules. I've already emailed Bart off vfb.

I understand how you feel about your fly sales. But the suspicions arose
with some, and I'll admit with me too, that you guys were working in
concert- two new names- tandem sales? (And a helluva compliment!) But hey,
that's not bad, in itself. I'd respect the tactic, if it weren't the vfb.
It doesn't matter if you are working together or not, and I'll believe you
at your word that you are not, the fact of the matter is that Byard doesn't
allow his site to be used for sales.

And maybe I can help you out a bit. I'm on Whiting's pro team, and I can
reguarly get rare hackles others only hear about. Some vfb'ers can attest
to that. Have you tried the new Hebert Speckled Champagne Badger saddle
hackles yet? And no, they're not for sale- they're for free, like for
everyone else I sent them to.

DonO

just for the record, i am deeply offended with the actions of certain
members of VFB, and it has drastically lowered my opinion of this previously
friendly organization.

sincerely,
jack "mehoff"
