John-
I got to watch Hans tie this pattern at the FFF
convention in Livingston this summer. It really is a
great pattern and very easy to tie. The cdc is tied in
by the tips at the bend or just a little forward of
there, (moisten the feather with water or spit and
smooth the barbules down toward the tip), then wind it
in touching turns up the shank. As you get closer to
the eye, some of the fibers will escape and look like
legs, the rest of it will look like a nicely dubbed
body. Tie off and trim, leaving room for the wing.
Even though the pattern name says elk hair, it's
actually deer hair, just tie it in like a regular EHC
wing.

You move and change,I move and am the same;
You move and are gone, I move and remain.
