Hi all.
I was wondering would anyone be interested in a pike fly swap, i'll just throw that out there .I am getting rather keenon this aspect of our sport and the creations you can produce off your vice is only held back by the size of your imagination.

Hi Deb,

See, at least you have the option for the "other trout"! ;-> Actually we
have pretty good freshwater fishing down here; especially (from what I
hear) bass (we even have our own hybrid, the Sunshine bass), panfish and
the numerous exotics that people don't want as pets anymore. Oscars are
rampant down here (yup, the same ones they sell in pet stores). We have
one intentionally introduced exotic, the Butterfly Peacock or Peacock
Bass. I hope to go fishing for these soon. They're a South American fish
which the state introduced to eat some of the other fish and provide a
new species of gamefish. Beautiful fish.

On the saltwater side I'd guess that we'll probably end up using a lot
of the same flies, maybe in different colors though? Since I'm pretty
new to this I've only used a clouser so far. I've been unsuccessful but
I'm sure it's primarily due to my casting ability! I've tied a bunch of
others I'm looking forward to using. I also picked up a bunch from
Outdoor World/Bass Pro Shops that I don't know how to tie yet. They ran
a coupon in Fl. Sportsman: 6 flies for $.99. How can you pass that up?

By tarpon you mean the pattern? I saw a pattern in the last issue of Fly
Fish America called "J's baby tarpon" or something like that. I have one
but I haven't used it yet. I did see a tarpon a couple of weeks ago when
I was fishing (my first time on a flat with my fly rod; oh heck my first
time fishing on a flat) and I did cast to it but no luck. Probably
wouldn't have known what to do if I did hook it!

Wow, this ended up being longer than I thought, signing off now.
