Count me in, too, John. I've sent email to you off-line (yesterday and today) but I don't think you got it.........might have gone into the mist..........
DanZ [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:majordomo-owner@;troutnet.com] On Behalf Of John Martinez Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2002 8:37 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [VFB] New Swap/Head Count Wow, okay, post has only been up a few hours and there's already (by rough count) 18 people who have indicated they want to participate. That's definitely more than enough to make this a go. You overseas types are definitely invited, of course. Lessee, now we need a name. Someone called this the perpetual swap in their email (can't remember who, right now, will look), so how about "The Perpetual Flybox Swap" for a name? I will start the ball rolling and coordinate the startup. Deadline for signing up will be the end of the month, 31st of October. How many flies you will need to tie will depend on how many finally join up. No matter what, the first batch should be fewer than a half-dozen. ***Deadline to complete the flies and get them to me will be the end of the year!*** I know this is a long time for so few flies, but with the holidays and family obligations (and fishing and other swaps) as well as the usual holiday mail hassles, I figured this would be better for everyone. If the majority wants this to get going sooner, email me offlist and I will count noses (figuratively) and make adjustments to the time lines. I will provide a nice new flybox to accomodate the first batch and mail it out once all the flies are in hand, which should be first week of January 2003. Each person in turn will pay postage to send it to next one on the list, this wouldn't be any different than paying return postage for a regular swap. If anyone has any ideas on how this could be done differently, let me know. I will also include a small notebook so people can name and describe the flies they put in and make comments, this might make an interesting memento if we decide to auction it off to list members when we're done. I will also try to set up a site to track where the box has been, where it's at and where it's going next. If people will let me know what they've taken out and put in, I will keep track of that, too. If people who are equipped for it want to photograph and post their flies, that would be great. Since this swap is now a going concern, please reply to me off list regarding signing up, ideas, comments, dropping out, etc., in accordance with the guidelines Byard has set up for swaps. I will post a list of current participants in the next day or so and update it as needed. Many thanks to all have joined up so far. BTW, Jimmy Moore is also in on this. Oh yeah, one last thing. I will need everyone to email me there names and mailing addresses as well as their email address. If you're sure you're going to be in the swap no matter what, you can send the info now. If you want to wait until everything is finalized, that's fine, too. Thanks, all. -John Oregon ===== The River- You passers-by, who share my journey, You move and change,I move and am the same; You move and are gone, I move and remain. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
