"The Fisherman Versus Bait

  by L T Walker

It sure is something funny and I can't quite figure out.
When the summer days are sunny and the streams are full of trout.
Why the nimble footed nimrod hastens to the stream.
And lugs a lot of bait along.

And rather odd it seems. When old man trout is hungry-sure
And feeding the riffles high.
The proper lure to uses a plain-  dry-fly.

It sure is best of all the sports old rainbow boy to lick.
To land him high with a hackle fly
When once you've learned the trick.

Don't let folks call us baiters- It is an ugly term.
Don't let the other fellow figure you'r depending on a worm.
Let's do away with salmon eggs and batis of other sorts.
And swear, if it takes a keg, we'll all bed better sports."
