Getting a fish "on the reel" is a good thing to practice, just to make it a habit, if you ever intend to catch any fish of any size.....
Obviously, anything you are able to land with 7-8X (WHY?) will never qualify for this.... and if the fish is not capable of making a "run" you will never have to worry about that gnarled up bunch of line floating around your legs...... :^)
so it sounds like unless you anticipate fishing for more sizable fish, don't waste time considering ... its that old adage about a reel only supposed to be a vehicle for holding the line....
