Harmen,

best advice Ivcan offer is practise.

Like you I had troublef iguring out how to tie off.

I settled on tying off between the throax and the bead. To do this I make sure I leave a 'just enough' room bewtween thorax and bead so the whio finish disapears down the crack. How muxh is just enough.. practice will tell you.

I usually do three , three wrap whips behind the bead. This keeps the fly together, it is only trout teeth that seem to ruin the damn things....

Subject: [VFB] Bead Head Nymph Question
Date: Sun, 17 Nov 2002 14:01:51 -0400

I have not tied very many bead heads and have a problem tying off after
creating the body behind the bead.
Can someone explain how complete a fly with a bead head.
Have tried tying off behind the bead, but fly doesn't look right this was as
there is too much of the body missing (covered by the knot).
Other method is to bring the thread over the bead and tie off at hook eye.
Possible problem with this is; if the thread was to break while being fished
than the fly would likely come apart.

What is the method?

Harmen
