I used to tie a Mosquito with a stripped herl for the body
instead of black and white moose mane. The stripes on the
hurl would give a striped shiny texture to the Mosquito
body. Worked well enough.

DEB,
The bleached peacock herl is used for tying Quill bodied
Dryflies, such as the Quill Gordon that Mark is tying. You
can also use the "bare Herls" for ribbing on Nymphs such as
the March Brown nymph. the stripped herls make bloody great
segmented bodies on a host of Patterns..... need dressings??
Let me know, I'll be happy to provide....
