All the natural black Cock necks I saw where mat and soft and I prefer
dyed ones too. May be not the very puristic way but successful

Hi Rene,

Nowhere I would claim to be a hackle guru, but here is how I 
understood it from talking to several of the high profile breeders.

To get a natural black is not the problem. To get a natural black 
with good quality feathers for flytying is.

Much simpler to dye a good quality dark neck or saddle black.

Giving up my chair freely for a more solid argument which addresses 
your question ;-)
