Don,

Count me in on this one. I'll even volunteer to pluck the dirty little plucker...

Bart and Co-op swappers,

I know the midge hackles tie more flies each than the larger ones, but let's
say you get an average of only 5 flies per feather. 5 x 42 = 210 flies!
That's 2- 100 packs- and most of your swap investment at the 100 pak price.
And you get 5 more packs! Not a bad deal.

I also didn't tell you ( in the other post) that the number-count system on
the back of the header cards is obsolete. Yes, it could still be used, but
everything he puts out now would be a gold or platinum by those standards.
The saddles have come so far since that printing that the numer counts are
more applicable for 1/2 or 1/4 saddles than for full. And the midge-saddle
fly-counts are just plain ridiculous- from ANY midge-saddle! On top of
that, they're getting fuller and longer and smaller fly-size every
generation, now that the gene pool can be cherry-picked every generation for
select breeders. So the old number-count system gets more obsolete every
generation. The buyer wins again.

That's why I knew this plan would work so well. There are so many feathers
on each saddle, splitting and sharing is now an excellent way to get a bunch
of hackles in many colors and sizes for a great price.

And now (mid-Jan.) the REAL ekklektik swaps begin! I will try, with the
help of Tom, to get some saddles that you would never find 'on the pegs'.
I'm planning to go visit before/after the Denver show the 1st weekend in
Jan. I think that between Tom and I there will be some really neat saddles
in the swap! (And some new surprises, too.)

Subject: [VFB] Grizzly midge plucked!!

The grizzly midge saddle it plucked, packed and being mailed in the AM. Good
news for group 2, there are 42 feathers per pack, give or take 1 or 2, and
the longest feathers are about 8 inches and the shortest is about 3 inches.
I tried to use the hackle gage on some of them to get an idea of the size
range, the majority is #22 and there are some that are a lot smaller then
the #22, my hackle gage won't go below 22. I know you group 2 folks will
like these packs.
