Hi all just a quick report - went fishing yesterday.
Weather Hot, Sunny and Dry. Temperature 85F, Strong southerly breeze to
keep tem from hitting 100... (note in Southern Hemisphere a Southerly is cool
and a Northerly breeze warm :-)= )
Arrived at Lake at about 11:00 am .. already hot... fished near car for
about an hour and a half waiting for my buddy to arrive. Since he was late I
walked down the other end of the Lake. Stopped and watched a Wallaby eating
and drinking in the shade for about 15 mins.. managed to get within 20 feet
before it hopped up the hill and watched me walk by .
Sat and watched for about ten minutes, but with no action, I drifted my
flies around over the weeds beyond the drop off. After about five
minutes I saw a trout inspect my dry fly, before swimming off. I switched to a
Royal Wulff (with wings DonO), and recast. 5 mins later another rainbow
cruised up and took the fly. I set the hook and landed and released him.
Next cast I hooked another, this time on a weighted flash back black and
peacock.
By this time my mate had arrived and I saw him walking along the lake
shore. We went and sat in the shade and had an ice cold beer while he
rigged up. (Tip freeze a couple of water bottles, and put in a cooler bag with
two cold beers.. keeps em cold for a few hours...and then you can drink the
water).
We resumed fishing and I manged to hook and land another 4.
A nice way to spend a summer afternoon..
