Therefore, the taste of, say 90 proof spirit, and that same spirit diluted down to say 50 proof, with appropriate water, IS different. Personally, I prefer the original proof taste, at least with Islay malts.
Cask strength Laphroaig is wonderful. And please ignore
the hints on the bottle that suggest to dilute it with water...

Henk - obviously a gentleman of refined good taste, is
quite right, the only water to add to any single malt
is the water it was made with or you will pollute it.
