they are all wrapped on the hook shank not detached body.

Fan Wing May Flies
I.
Tail. Three strands of black fur.
Body. Raffia ribbed black tying silk.
Wings. Undyed grey mallard breast.
Hackle. Ginger cock.

Tail. Three strands of cock pheasant tail.
Body. Raffia ribbed yellow tying silk.
Wings. Dyed yellow mallard breast.
Hackle. Dyed yellow.

3.
Tail. Three strands of cock pheasant tail.
Body. Raffia ribbed gold oval tinsel.
Wings. Dyed pale olive mallard breast.
Hackles. 1st. Feather from outside woodcock wing.
2nd. Dyed pale olive cock.

Wings. Mallard breast dyed as substitute for summer duck.

Hackle. As wings, but of a slightly paler shade.

Body. Raffia or floss silk, ribbed red tying silk.
Wings. The points of four dun hackles, or hackle fibres of the same shade, tied spent.
Hackle. Inner of natural red cock, outer of dark blue dun cock.

Tail. Three long stiff black cock hackle fibres.
Body. Raffia ribbed silver oval tinsel.
Wings. Four dark blue dun cock hackle points, or hackle fibres of the same shade, tied spent.
Hackle. Dark dun cock down body and at shoulder.

Tail. Three long stiff black cock hackle fibres.
Body. Raffia ribbed silver wire.
Wings. The points of four medium blue dun cock hackles, or hackle fibres of the same shade, tied spent.

The bodies of May flies that have been tied with raffia grass may be improved with the addition of a coat of celluloid varnish.

Wings. From the flank feather of a grey mallard.

Tail. Bronze blue-grey hackle fibres.
Body. Peacock quill.
Wings. Mandarin duck flank.
Hackle. Bronze blue-grey cock.
