Tell us more about the Plantain Seeds. I knew about the Catnip research.
No research except by my buddy and me after reading various native American books about natural cures and foods. The Boy Scouts used to have references in some books and took the NA knowledge to heart. Catnip is a mint I grow along with apple, pineapple, spear and several other mints. My opinion is that the leaves contain oils like the broadleaf/plantain seeds which are excreted through persperation and exude an oder not preferred to bugs. Garlic can be noticed the next day by humans. I'm guessing that the oders mask more than repel but I'm no scientist.
