OK, here we go. In the last part of 2001 I hosted a hat swap, I'm sure there are some of you out there that remember it.....oh stop the grumbling, it wasn't that bad. Anyway I am offering to host another one. Some of you are wondering "Why?", well here is the reason; it will give you a chance to have a hat, fly shop or fishing club, etc., from another part of the country you might not have a chance to visit otherwise. When the first swap was done there were hats from the Numb Butt Fly Co. in Oregon, Twin Stumps Anglers in Wyoming, The Fish Hawk in Georgia, Guadalupe River Chapter of TU in Texas, Upper Delaware Outfitters, Davidson River Outfitters in North Carolina and so many other great hats, sorry I didn't mention them all. For those of you who enjoyed the first one here is the chance to do it again and those of you who didn't get in on it now. There is one now twist on this swap and that is going to be explained in the rules.....ready? Here they are;
1. If you want to join this swap CONTACT ME OFF LIST at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
if you do not contact me off list with "Hat Swap" in the subject line your name will not be added to the swap list. Sorry to have to do it this way but it will keep Byard and others happy and will help me tell the difference between junk and legit mail.
2. Here is the new twist, I would like for everyone who joins to tie 1 (one) fly, it has to be a local or regional fly to your area, to include with their hat so the new owner can display it proudly on their hat.
3. You only have to buy 1 (one) hat, the way this will work is after the deadline for signup I will send my mailing addy to all swap folks to mail their hat and fly to me.
4. After the deadline I will send a list of who is in the swap and what hat they are sending, this list will be included along with my mailing addy. Review the list and pick out the top 3 (three) hats you would like and write them down on a piece of paper including it with you hat and fly. There will be some who get their 1st choice some their 3rd choice and some who will not get any of their choices, but I will do what I can to see that you get at least one of your choices.
5. If you do not include return postage you will not get your hat, sorry to do it this way but in the past year I have spent $20+ for postage because swap folks did not include a couple of stamps of a few bucks to make sure it came back to them.
6. Hat types: I would like for you to buy a NEW hat from your local fly shop, outfitter, or fly co. and I am requesting that the hat be one you would wear fishing, so no hot pinks or flo green use some taste please.
7. Deadline for sign ups is Friday, January 31st, and hats and flies will be due to me by February 21st, as I said earlier my mailing addy will be included in the email I send out on the 31st with swap participants.
8. As swapmeister I get 1st choice of hats, so "Bite Me" Jimmy..VBEG
9 I do reserve the right to add or modify these rules as I see fit or for the betterment of swap participants
Thank you and I do hope to see at least 20 to join this swap.
Bart
