a point of interest in Perrault's "Standard Dictionary of Fishing Flies", 
1984,  he has a collection of  27 black gnat patterns from England to New 
Zealand. But no dates. and some have names of the original tiers to go with 
them. Buy not the distinction of the first black gnat.
