Dan, I was trying to find something to make wings for a yellowjacket for a swap. I ended up using a metallic twist (Metallic Twist, KTC-310) from the craft store. It made it to the terrestrial fly swap, but unfortunately the picture was over-exposed and the beautiful metallic sheen on the wings didn't show - in fact you can't even find the wings. :-(
<http://web.utk.edu/~ldecuir/photosec.htm> and click on "Yellow Jacket" (The name's spelled wrong -Alan DiSomma would argue with that- and the e-mail address is wrong - by about 8 years! ) Got me one of the best compliments I'd ever had for a fly - Leif Y. Carlstedt received the box and said he about had an embarassing accident when he opened the box and it "jumped out at me". He said if we had bees this size in the U.S., he didn't want to come here! I told him that "bumble bees" were even bigger! Leif's "Geting" (same URL as above) is a beautiful deer hair wasp. Allan >allan go to rene's site. look up last years xmas swap. I tied a flashdancer >using a mylar lace trim for the body.
