Thank you for being a big enough person to 'fess up. As far as I'm concerned, the slate is clean.

This is to the entire list:

This will be a very difficult message to send but I am afraid that I have no
other choice.
I must confess to each of you that I was peta_coney and that the
offensive
message posted was mine.
I had originally subscribed to the list as peta_coney in an attempt to
find
out who PETA Sally is...sort of as a mole. During the ensuing melee of
posts I made an incredibly immature and offensive statement and posted it to
the list.
This was inexcusable, and peta_coney was banished from the list.

The apology sent by me (as ConeyPeta) was quite sincere. I do feel,
however, that it was genuine in that it did not come from me directly. I
hope that this does not sound too melodramatic, but I feel that I let the
list down once with the crude post and was not man enough to face the
punishment. Although it would seem easy enough to ride this out in
anonymity I feel that I cannot, hence this message.

I want to sincerely apologize to Murf. Although you were one of the
ones who indicated that you were not offended by the comment, I still must
apologize. I hope that I did not embarrass you.
I must also apologize to Deb and Josh...again for the comment itself and
also for not saying anything while chatting about the subject. I know that
there were other women and children who read the post....I am just singling
out these people because I spoke "directly" with them and their feelings
were expressed.
I also want to apologize specifically to Byard. You made the right
decision in banishing peta_coney. I am sorry that I made that comment on
your list.

I honestly cannot tell you how embarrassed and ashamed I am of what I
said. I humbly apologize and ask for your individual and collective
forgiveness.

I have enjoyed being a part of this list over the past year and a half.
Although it is difficult, I can accept whatever this apology brings. I just
feel that it is necessary for you to know he source of the comment. I
would not want you to feel that it originated from an innocent source
(Heaven forbid that an actual peta_coney exists and finds himself/herself
shunned across the country for an unknown crime).

Sincerely,
Chris

.
