Well Rick, I am real. Can't help you much with
those tube flies. I don't waste my time tying them. I get just as good results
with Clouser Minnows, easier to tie and very little material is used in
them.
I climbed down the hill right by the dumpster in
the parking lot when you pay your $4 (UGH!). Walked all the way uo the west bank
till I got to that area I was describing to you earlier. Crossed the river and
made my way back to the truck and crossed back over.
I tried several wooly things. The last was a Chili
Pepper (perfected by Tony Spezio). It is almost Root beer.
I tie it with a dark to burnt orange chenille and a
brown hackle palmered. with a burnt orange tail. These have a brass bead
head.
I have several flies that are bright and attractive
that I tried. Most of them were soft hackles.
Brought two rods and tossed a deer hair frog. I
bought this one as I don't waste time with real hard to tie flies.
Saw a few jump but could never get them to bite. Do
you know if there are carp in there? That is what may have been
jumping.
BTW I didn't run into any cactii.....
