I know what you mean Allan. While I have plastic drawers, tubs and Plano boxes, the bench is always a mess. My usual tying session begins by putting away what I left out the last time and root through the open hutch piled with storage containers for what I need for the new tying session. I do have a foam tool caddy I bought at a show which I really like but not enough room for all the gadgets I have.
My buddy who taught me to tie brings a homemade wood tying bench w/drawer to sit on his lap to tie and all his soft tying stuff like saddles goes into garbage bags when we go on a trip. Which reminds me....
One July I put my clothes for the week of camping in a garbage bag by the door the night before. Upon arrival at our remote campsite, I discovered I had brought the family garbage and by then it was clear my clothes were in the landfill. I hope my buddy pays attention to which bag is which since he has two full bags of necks, saddles and fur.
