Hello VFB ers in Southern California;
I was working on getting my Dad into fly fishing when he visited here over Thanksgiving. It s starting to take hold and he s interested in finding a good place to learn & take lessons. He lives in the San Bernardino mountains (Running Springs/Big Bear/Arrowhead area). He works in the SB/Redlands area. Anybody have some recommendations for shops that are beginner friendly?
Ken,
I don't know of any in that immediate area, but if he goes down into Orange County there is Bob Marriott's, but beware! It's a candy store for flyfishermen. They are always helpful, knowledgeable, and have classes on everything from casting to tying. Another place that I really like is Mike Scotts in Orange. ( the city ) I haven't made it there in over a year, (seems I'm always pressed for time) but they have always been very friendly and helpful. If you want more info on location, phone, etc. contact me off list and I will be happy to get it to you.
