Here in Utah they love a BHPT, size 18. It is a simple tie: bead (very small from spirit river) copper wire, 4 or five pheasant tail fibers, smaller than average peacock herl. Put on bead, tie on wire to hook bend, attach PT tips as a tail slightly smaller than the hook shank at the bend, attach with a couple of wraps on top of each other, but don't wrap down the butts. Instead. lift them up and wrap thread to the bead, then wrap butts to the bead and trim. Keep it slim. Attach herl and make a couple of wraps for collar. That is it. If you want a flash back version, tie in a little pearl mylar behind the bead, then tie on herl, and pull mylar over after it is wrapped. This is a really simple tie, and white fish love 'em. Big browns do to. Go to my webshots site, http://community.webshots.com/user/tsmdav and look in the Ogden/Weber River Album The second to last picture will show you a big brown with that fly in his mouth. I will also send you some pictures of the fly off list.
