Wes,
This was very evident as we drove over Mt.
Hood on the way. Ski bowl (the lowest ski slopes on hood) had nothing more then
a couple patches of snow on their runs. They had one week where they were open.
We are going to be in a real hurt come summer.

(Central Oregon) trip
All in All it was a great
trip, the weather was such that I didn't need much more then my T-shirt and
a light sweat shirt, you would have never guessed that it was the middle of
Winter. /smaller>/fontfamily> Saw a grim report that
came out in one of Bend's weekly newspapers...
Local area snowpack is
64% of normal, this is the driest winter in 70 years, and fully half of the
nights in January failed to fall below freezing temperature. (32 F, 0 C) They
closed one of the smaller local ski areas on top of Santiam Pass because the
snowpack was only 22-28 inches.
Can't begin to tell you how unusual
this is for this area or how devastating it will be if it continues. Please
send a message to whoever is snoozin' at the rain/ snow button.
