Like many of you, I've tried several knots I've heard about.
Turle...good, but not simple. Improved Clinch.... good and
simple, but I feel like I'm tying on a Panther Martin. One from
Art Lee's book (Fishing Dry Flies For Trout On Rivers And Streams)
I think he called it The Scottish knot. An excellent knot, but
I have trouble getting the tippet thru the eye once. Twice is too much.
Pitzen knot.....excellent knot , not as simple as some, but not hard.
Davy's knot....., good, and simple.and like the Pitzen, a small knot.
These days I usually use Davy's knot because it's easy and fast
to tie. Reliable? I lose fish and flies at about the same rate as
always. Is it the knot? Probably not.
