I have spent many a night on the WMA reservation fishing. About the only
trout I never caught is the Gila trout. But I have a skin mount about 21"
long hanging on my wall of what would have been the state record Apache
Native trout.
Did you know that there is even Northern Pike up there?

It is realy beautiful country there.
There is a reason they call them the White Mountains. I never even think of
going there in the winter.

It is amazing that there is such a big difference in the climate in Arizona
as well as temperature changes here.
Most people thing of Arizona as a desert, dry, inhospitable and deadly
without water. That is only here where I live and the road to California.
The rest is so much like the rest of the country that is is scary.
We also have some of the best snow skiing in the west.

I was checking out your links on the e-mails you send and notice they are
about the White Mountains. I got the opportunity to work for the White
Mountain Apache doing streamflow measurements and water quality assessments
throughout the Reservation. Beautiful area, didn't get to do any fishing,
but I sure did enjoy myself. And by the way, they call it the Salt River for
a good reason!

Where do you get those excellent DOG letters to GOD?

I have been told by fish people at the Game & Fish that the reason the trout
die from ingesting corn is the husk on the corn. I blocks their ability to
digest anything else they eat.

our min ds what NOT to order? Or is it that carpet thing, again?

: Bread is no problem, it has food value.
: Down at Brainerds Bend below me is a C&R section. When some
: tourists would stop at the trout dock there Donnie would
: throw a hamburger roll in the water.
: There are big browns in that section.
: As soon as the roll would hit the water there would be a big
: boil and half of the roll would be floating till the next
: boil and the roll was gone. The biggest trout I have taken
: from that section is a 5 3/4 Rainbow on a 3 wt rod.
:
: Now I'm confused Tony. Both bread and corn are grain based, both are
: basically carbohydrates but maybe it is the fiber that can't pass
digestion?
: Maybe the trout's inabillity to chew is a factor on the corn end. Did you
: use a whole or half a roll on your hook on that big bow? <G>
