Hi VFB'ers My wife and I went to the Fly Fishing show last weekend in Seattle... Fun! Saw Tyanna & Doug again as well as Don Johnson... who always seemed to have a good crowd gathered around his tying table. Love that Nor'vise Don. Also had a chance to meet Hans, who last I checked was tying a size #32 Klinkhammer. Nice fellow with a great sense of humor. But one older fellow kept drawing me back to his tying table. His name was "Harry Lemire" he was tying beautiful Atlantic Salmon Fly's... WITHOUT a vice. It was amazing to watch this gentleman craft one of these fly's with only his fingers. And yes he still uses Cane rods with silk line and gut leaders too... a traditionalist in the true sense of the word. We got to chatting and found out that my wife's grandpa had met him on the stream years ago. Her grandpa told her he met this guy on the stream that was tying the most beautiful fly's with his fingers while watching the rises. He ended up giving a hand tied "Thunder & Lightning" to my wife as a gift. Wow!, these things auction for $800. We kept it quiet the rest of the day but I don't think he'd mind if I told you all now. It's quite a treasure I'll post a picture later on so you can see. BTW, Rob B. I missed you again...
