There's a book in Borders about spinning dog hair. My wife and I spin and weave and knit, and we do a lot with dog hair. Beagle works. So does cat. Most long haired dogs are blowing their coats right now. If you're out and about, and spot someone walking their dog, just ask if they can pull out some hair. The guard hairs make good winging for streamers, and the down (undercoat) is good dubbing. If they won't, just brush up against them in you dark suit, and you'll get a pretty good sample.
