Steve, I have and love my Norvise..use it for everything. I've kept the
Renzetti traveler and Griffin and Griffiths vises as backups for taking to
teach the scouts flytying. But the Danvise is the traveling vise (is always
in the car with the waders) and the Norvise is on my bench..both the one
downstairs in the tying room, and a second one on my breakfast tray turned
into a tying bench that I bring upstairs when I want to sit in front of a
bigger screen TV and tie. AS to winding the bobbins..takes only a few
minutes. I have a bobbin of each color wound and ready to go..with a back up
spool for red, black, rusty dun and olive dun (the colors I tie with the
most). Thus I wind all the spools in one fell swoop and am ready for the
next month. It is a bit pricey to have so many, but really neat when you get
in sync with the bugs you are tying to just put on a new bobbin when you run
out of thread. The spool holds a full 200 yard spool of 8/0 Uni thread.
