You can get a fine chartreuse if you use the following formula: two packages
of kiwi lime Kool Aid, two packages of lemon lime Kool Aid, 2 ounces of
vinegar, eithier cider or white, 6 ounces of hot water. Put water with
vinegar in microwave 3 minutes..be careful taking it out. wear a hot pad and
shake it a bit before removing so the water doesn't bubble up and over the
container, put the kool aid in..it will bubble and fizz. Then after the Kool
Aid is dissolved, put your bucktail in a shallow container but deep enough
and narrow enough that the cup of fluid will cover it (I use a long plastic
disposable food keeper) and pour the dye bath over the bucktail. In about 15
minutes, put the entire thing in the microwave and heat again for 1 minute.
Let set again and you will see the water go clear or whitish and the
bucktail become a wonderful light chartreuse color. If you want a deeper
dye, add more Kool Aid, same colors in the same proportion. It gives a very
beautiful, fluorescent chartreuse. I've used this combo for years..never
fails. Joyce
