The origional pattern was not tied with a peacock body, although it does look better, but it is one of the many many variations that are around these parts. As for the origional no one knows who the "inventor" was all that is know is that is does catch fish and it is a very old pattern, at least 75 years old. Here is the recipe for the origional:
The "Yaller" Hammer Wooly Worm
Hook: Wet # 8- 14
Thread: Black
Weight: Lead wire
Tail: Golden Phesant
Body: Black floss or wool
Hackle: "Yaller" Hammer feather palmered through body (yellow dyed Mourning Dove or Bob White Quail wing feathers split in half)
