Hi alal,
On a very sunny afternoon, whenthe trout are snoozing i often go coarse fishing, its great fun and much more technical than fly fishing, well the bottom rigs are, fro say the float to the hook, getting the bait to fall at a certain speed in running water is no easy feat.U acn use all sorts of bait to attract fish, carp love floating peekets, dog biscuits etc.Where as tench love worms and hemp etc..Dough balls work ver well for larger coarse species but boilies are the bee's knees.
Fished hard on the bottom under an indicator in conjunction with your fly rod is the way to go..
If any of you would like further info please mail me.

Hey Rene,

He was using a flyrod and doing the time honored tradition of chumming the fish. You can't do what he was doing in Alberta. Chumming/attracting fish is fairly common among coarse fisherman in the UK. Some coarse fisherman even use slingshot gadgets to distribute the attractant. I remember watching a guy launch a meal worm dough ball via slingshot. It smelled awful.

You'll see people use corn in the same manner in the Mid-West at the put and take ponds. Carp fishers also use doughballs in the same manner in parts of the Mid-West.

Cheers,

Alberta Al

List, as we are talking about carp on the fly.

Does anybody read the Article about ff for tench and rudd in tha June 2002
Issue of ff&ft written by John Goddard?

He used a 'bread fly' (Hook) with some white marabou or oistrich plume.
Looking at the picture I could see some bread floating on the water while he
was playing a tench? He used it to feed the fish. Is this flyfishing?
