First, you should have also gotten some from my material swap. If its the same thing as those, then Doyle sent me some patterns for them. They are large, salt water patterns and the emu is used as more or less as a lateral line on the fly. I will make copies of the pattern and send them to you(and anyone else that is interested). They can also be used as biots on flys. I dont like the way they look as legs and tails on my stonefly and hellgramite patterns, but on drys they seem to work fine for me. They are easier to wrap around the hook shank on a dry then goose or turkey biots are, in my opinion. Experiment with it, maybe as a tail on drys or nymphs. Gills? What about an Emu hackled wolly bugger?? Never know, could be the next hot fly on the market. And if it is, i get royalties! Let me know if you want the patterns. They're around here somewhere.

In Jimi's material swap, I got what I think is emu feathers. They are long and fuzzy. Light tan at the base and getting darker as they move toward the tip.
Does anyone have any experience tying with these? I need a few tips or ideas for their use.
Thanks! Doug
