Anyone interested in a wide range of fibers on display: The Maryland Sheep and Wool
Festival is on the first weekend in May. It's the biggest and oldest fiber festival
in the U.S.

There are 100s of vendors, growers, manufacturers, food and good fun. Everything from
Yak hair to bunny fur to more kinds of wool than you knew existed are here. It's the
best of the state fair without the midway. I go every year for all three days.

If you're not part of the wool and sheep industry, you'll be amazed at the variety of
sheep there are, each with different types of coats. Did you know that cashmere is
not a breed of goat, but a type of hair that can come from any breed? Mohair goats
are too cute for words.

It's at the Howard County Fair Grounds. Admission and parking are free. Classes
aren't, and food ain't. ---
