One approach I've found helps the tangling problem you mentioned is to try and deliberately throw bigger loops in your casts. You don't need the really tight loops you would want for other dry fly presentations and the larger loop seems to help keep the multiple flies apart for a while at least.
Hope this helps,
Kev

I've read of, and seen on TV, fly fishermen using multiple fly's. This seams to be a logical way to fish, with obvious advantages. My question, is this akin to snipe hunting? A way to innate the newer members of the sport.
When I try two fly's there is a typical progression of events: 1. The fly's behave themselves, keeping their distance. 2. After they get to know one other, they start courting, tying little knots around each other. 3. They become increasingly intimate, coming together in sort of a dance, with knots of increasing complexity. 4. Next they become as young lovers, so entangled that God nor man can separate them! 5. My only recourse is to cut them loose, exiling one back to the box.
I fear the waters I fish may be haunted by mischievous water spirits. Webster recognizes three types of Water Nymphs or Water Sprites, (Naiad, Nereid, and Oceanid), but I think there are others. Does anyone have a classification guide? At times I seem to attract so many that you can hear a faint buzzing around my head, feeding on my frustration. Does anyone know of any effective rituals, offerings, or repellents to rid myself of the pesky spirits so I can get back to fishing.
Thanks, Randy
