Del,

Have a great time. I guide and fish from canoes all the time. I do it here on Long Island Sound and and we get monster striped bass when the guys in the flats boats aren't getting anything.

It is quiet. If your boat is aluminium I would put a piece of outdoor carpet down to cut down on the noise. If you are steady on your feet you can stand and cast or use a pole to move in the shallows.

Rig a light anchor off one end to slow down your drift and run the line inboard where you can reach it wtihout move to the ends of the boat. Then rease and lower as you need.

My wife and I fished the Quietico and north of there on our honey moon from canoes. Outstanding!!!

Northern pike on a fly rod is the best.

If you need more help conntact me backchannel.

Good luck,

John

I will be trying out a canoe next Monday, anyone have any insight on fly
fishing from one? I have canoed and I flyfish just never put them together. The
Lake I will be in is on state park land and holds huge trout and monster
'gills. Any information and assistance would be helpful.
Regards,
Del
