Well, today I met up with Mark Wendt, Lurman, and John Roth for a little bit of fishing on the gunpowder. I couldnt tell you where the heck we went, but it was by a bridge...im not very familiar with the area. Had a couple of tan caddis coming off the water, and quite a bit of midge activity as well. However, the fish there dont seem to like moving very much to grab a bite to eat. Im not sure of the FINAL counts, but I know Lurman, John, and Mark all caught some. Mark was using a gold ribbed hares ear and a tan caddis and caught 6 brookies. He said that they were taking the flies as it started to swing back in the current. Lurman also had a few fish this morning, I saw him catch two on a white wet fly with a small glass bead in front as a dropper to a green weenie. Im not sure how many John caught or what we caught them on, but he did say he had some fish. I, unfortunatly, didnt catch a thing...but thats the way the cookie crumbles...i'll blame it on my lack of sleep. I took a friend along and he didnt catch anything either. I had a few hits on some nymphs and a little Awesome Hair Streamer but the hook didnt feel like setting itself. Cant win them all.

It was nice to meet up with some more VFB'ers. Mark and I have previously fished together, and meeting up with John and Lurman(who i dont think is on the list) was really cool.

Well, thats all for now...Thanks fella's for a nice day of viewing the scenery and tryin to fool those fish...

That sounds about right. There's a High's convenience store in there and
some other odds and ends. If I'm not mistaken, its the first possible turn
on the right after you turn right at the light.

If either of you guys want more specific directions, please don't hesitate
to call me at work tonight. I'll be getting in there at 8:00 tonight and
I'll be stuck in hell until 6am. The number is 410-771-7667. Otherwise,
we'll see you up there sometime between 6:20 and 6:30!

John Roth
