Hi Perps, Got a problem, looking for suggestions. I received the Green (International) box, took out a few flies, put the same back in. Repackaged the parcel, went to P.O. to send it from Canada to England. Postage for the thing is $35.00. I did not mail it.
This is a problem for me, I don't want to spend $35 every time I get the swap packages and have to send it off to England. After England, it eventually makes its way to Australia. I pity the poor bugger that has to pay the postage on that one. I'm not 100% sure what the postal rates in Europe are, but I know they are quite high and these guys will be spending a lot more than me. The package is just over 1 kilo and the rate for international is $35.55 by air. The rate by ground (ship) for this parcel would be $13.55 but may take 6 weeks to get to England. Within Canada same parcel is $8.93, to U.S. parcel is $9.90. These rates are OK but not $35 every time one of these packages comes in. I want to get a general opinion or vote on what I would like to do. Option #1 - Take the flies from the boxes, (there are 2, plus a notepad, bag of zip locs, etc) and send the flies only along in a padded envelope, making it much lighter, and qualifying it is an oversize letter. Option #2 - Send everything back to U.S. to swapmeister, and withdraw from the swap. Option #3 - Send to England C.O.D. minus $10...Not nice. This should make for some interesting chat on VFB.
