Some of you might remember when last summer, I posted a link to a story in the PGH Post-Gazette about mayflies at PNC Park during a Pirates game.

Since then, I've seen them at many urban locations along the Allegheny where I live and work ; gas stations, the grocery store parking lot, . . . but last night, while taking Muddy Waters out for a night-time walk, we saw a big healthy Hex on the back door window ( sorry no photo).  I'd venture he wanted to see what was on SportsCenter, but I'm not sure.

What a great sight though.  We live in a dense single family area, originally developed between 1900 and 1920, less than a mile from the river.  Somehow, its always been "the city" though, and I'm not used to seeing the bugs there.

Here's hoping the improvements in the water quality will continue, both here and elsewhere, where you live and where you fish.
